September 1, 2003, became a historic day when the BITD became an autonomous statutory organization of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh under the Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology, Gazipur Act 2003. It is located on a compact 23.42-acre land in the Gazipur is only about twenty kilometers away from Shahjalal International Airport.
