DUET Central Library
Library resources are the key resources for all educational and research institutions. Moreover, online library resources are becoming more popular for higher education. Thus, there need a standard format for integrated library management system for exchange of information among different libraries around the globe. We used KOHA based system that provides MARC21/UNIMARC/Z39.50 standard for library information exchange. KOHA provides an international standard for DUET central library. It provides online services for the faculty members, undergraduate and postgraduate students of DUET. It also provides advanced and general searching capability and online renewing of item. DUET Library is integrated with DUET Institutional Repository to provide uploading and downloading undergraduate and postgraduate thesis, journal, technical reports and e-books. Item circulation becomes easier using barcode. The library system has been implemented under the project “Improvement of DUET Digital Library” by Professor Dr. Mohammad Abdur Rouf of Dept. of Computer Science and Engineering of DUET.
DUET Institutional Repository
Every educational institution has different kinds of digital content such as thesis of undergraduate and postgraduate students, technical report, e-book and other intellectual contents. There need a discoverable and searchable storage of metadata and the content itself and retrieval of those content. We used Dspace (which is an open source) for DUET Institutional Repository (DUET IR). DUET IR is divided into different communities, sub-communities and collections of different digital contents. Main communities are faculties, sub communities are departments and collections are undergraduate and postgraduate thesis, question bank, curriculum. It also provides searching capability, uploading and downloading undergraduate and postgraduate thesis, technical reports, e-books and other resources. We have added more than 300 digital contents with their metadata and also have uploaded those documents in DUET IR. DUET IR is implemented under the project “DUET Institutional Repository and Integration with KOHA based DUET Digital Library” by Professor Dr. Mohammad Abdur Rouf of Dept. of Computer Science and Engineering, DUET, Gazipur.
